Marching straight out of Jerusalem, "Marsh Dondurma" is on the move. This new Israeli brass band, formed just two years ago, has been raving Israel ever since. Be it street parties, parades, clubs or venues, this cheerful group has made its mark almost everywhere, leaving a streak of joyful dancers behind them.

The band is a community of 15 musicians, combining brass, reed and percussion instruments. Delivering with such an acoustic might, these guys can play almost anywhere. On stage or on the street, marching or dancing, the strong friendship among the members seems to bring out the true happiness found in music.

Among other numerous places, Marsh Dondurma have performed at the renowned  Israel Festival, the Akko International Theater Festival, the Bat-Yam Street Art Festival, the Shuni Jazz Festival and regularly in various music clubs around the country. This year they held their first visit to a European festival playing at the notorious Guca Trumpet Festival in Serbia, the Belgrade Kalamegdan and the Budapest "Godon Club".

Following the successful release of their debut album on 2005, they are standing now on the verge of their second studio album, making way for exploration of new musical ideas and old traditions. In their repertoire, Marsh Dondurma combine traditional ethnic music from around the world with their own original tunes expanding these influences towards Jazz and Funk. They leave no one out, playing gypsy traditional, Jewish klezmer, Latin beats, Middle Eastern tunes and more.

From the Press:

"The members of "Marsh Dondurma" decided to

bring back to life the tradition of street music in

Israel… For the past year they have been popping up

in city squares and gatherings to bring joy to

bystanders. After a few seconds the gazes of

amazement turn into a lively street party"

"Yedioth Ahronot", 04.01.06

"You don't have to be a music fan to bump into

"Marsh Dondurma" during these past few months. The

Jerusalem-based band of wind and percussion players

attends more and more cultural events."

About the Album:

"The original compositions [by the band members] are

great and sometimes even brilliant, and the group

performs them straight-ahead and well"

"Ha-Aretz", 30.09.05

"The players build a human wall at the back of the

stage… the leader swings his drum sticks with big

motions, playing and conducting at once…he goes

down to the crowd and draws new believers…exciting

them with his ecstatic gaze, hypnotizing with the beat

of the drum"

"city mouse" 22.07.05
